Unfortunately there will be a "Half Marathon" passing the venue between 11am and 2pm so severe traffic disruption is possible. Please arrive early or late!!!

Boxing Day Bash is Cancelled

We have reluctantly decided to cancel the above event. The course is covered in about 3 inches of snow which will not melt before Saturday. In addition the toilets are frozen and Pam Mayo’s catering trailer like wise!

Please spread the word – I will put a notice on the gate on the day.

The end of season Marshals Prize Draw took place at the SDCC 19th Sept meeting, and the lucky winners were as follows:

You can enter online but entries cannot be accepted until payment is received by the entries secretary.
NOTE: This meeting may be converted to a double lapper depending on number of entries received, but there will be no increase in entry fee.

In order for SDCC to organise and run efficient and safe meetings we need more members and competitors volunteering to marshal at meetings.
We have a dedicated group of experienced marshals who regularly turn out to help, but at our July sprint the MSA steward had an issue with "dual roling" of marshals, so we need more numbers to ensure our meetings can continue.

2009 Season now under way

Our first Sprint meeting was a fine but cold affair last Sunday, many thanks to all the competitors who supported us, and thanks to all the Officials and Marshals who braved the cold to make it a success.
The working party the previous week was also very well supported- many thanks to those who turned up to get everything ready for the season.
The 2009 Yearbooks are now available, complete the online form to get your copy, or an extra copy if you already have one to give to your friends!!

Website updated today- see the "updates" page for more details.
The online entry form and Regs are now available for the SDCC Members Sprint on 22nd March 2009, and we are pleased to announce that the entry fee is only £49 (same as 2005 price).
There is also an important change to the Calendar - we have swapped our Intro Day with VSCC, so our Intro to Sprinting Day will be on Sunday May 3rd and Vintage Sports Car Club on May 31st.

A weekend of Sprinting and Inter Club Challenges

Saturday night, 30th August- Social Evening and Wacky Challenges

You and your family and friends are cordially invited to an evening of social intercourse and wacky challenges after the Hagley & DLCC Sprint meeting. Whether you are staying over night after the Sprint, or delaying your departure from it, or arriving for the Sunday SDCC Sprint or just simply turning up for the evening
EVERYBODY IS WELCOME.
There will be a marque in case the weather is inclement (as if it would !!) food will be available for purchase (from 6.30pm) but please bring your own drinks.
To add to the fun evening “wacky sports challenges” are planned involving games like a sack race, rounders, croquet, sponge javelin, football, cricket and whatever else the weather will allow - both energetic and non-energetic games.
Whether you wish to indulge in a quiet drink and social intercourse with fellow club members/competitors or get involved in not too competitive (!!?) wacky challenges – the choice is yours.

However an indication of potential numbers is needed for the catering required so please inform John Williams on 01332 810481 or compsec@curborough.co.uk before Friday 29 August.

UnOfficial Inter-Club Sprint Challenge

Shenstone & DCC versus Hagley & DLCC

Within each of the two sprint meetings on the weekend each club will be represented by an equal number of club competitors (max. 10). In line with the recent MSA Inter-Regional Association sprint challenge scoring, each person will score points for their team by the number of their class position on each day and the club with the lowest number of points will win a trophy.

Nominations for each Club for each sprint meeting must be made before the commencement of practice runs on each day. This may be completed by club representatives and therefore if you do not wish to be included please indicate to John Williams as above before the meetings.

This is an unofficial challenge and therefore is designed for some additional fun during the weekend - and a trophy for the winning club!!

Developers withdraw from Eco Town bid.

The proposed "Eco Town" on the Curborough site will not now go ahead as the developers have withdrawn from the Eco Town bid.
See the BBC website for further details, or view the developers press release dated 7th July.
However, they are pressing ahead with plans already submitted to Lichfield District Council for a conventional 5000 home development.

The uptake for the Marshals Training Day on Sunday June 1st has been very slow, so we need to get some more people signed up otherwise the event will have to be cancelled.
If you are a spectator who thinks they might want to get involved (no commitment necessary at this stage) or a competitor who may want to help out once in a while but needs some basic training, then please volunteer for this.
A lot of work goes into organising these days and will be a pity to cancel it.

SDCC Pub Nite meeting

The next SDCC Pub Nite (an informal chance for a drink/meal and natter with fellow club members) is on
Wednesday 7th May at The Clock Warehouse, Shardlow, near Derby from 8pm.
The pub is situated just off the A6 between Long Eaton & Castle Donington. There's loads of parking and bar meals are served until 9.30pm.

Ref Matts comments, I am sure LDC have already had many objections- thanks to everyone once again, your support has been overwhelming.
The name on my letter was a lady named Claire, so I think they are already having to use extra staff!!!
The official deadline for objections is Tuesday 29th April (tomorrow), so I think we need to see what decision the Council make now, as we may need to keep something in reserve in case our next lot of objections have to go "higher" up, if you see what I mean!!

The next SDCC Pub Nite (an informal chance for a drink/meal and natter with fellow club members) is on Wednesday 2nd April at the Appleby Inn, Appleby Parva, near Twycross, Leics from 8pm.

The pub is on the A444 Nuneaton to Burton road, and is less than a mile from junction 11, M42.

There is ample parking and bar meals are served until 10pm

Help!! -Again

We need a computer literate person to help with results at our sprint meetings at Curborough this year.
A computer and printer is brought to each meeting (SDCC only!) with a spreadsheet pre-loaded with entry list, and all you have to do is enter the times into the spreadsheet as times appear on a printout next to the computer.
You would be required from meeting start to meeting end, but we will supply you with food and coffee all day long!!!!

They are provisional because we do not yet have a permit number from the MSA.
